In complete disbelief that I could still be ill, I decided that what I needed was something healthy to eat as everything I’m likely to find in a restaurant will more than likely just make me feel worse. We went to the nearest Kroger (incidentally the one that is known as Murder Kroger) where we got some apples, bananas and some plain rolls, as well as a few other bits and bobs. Back at the hotel I had a roll and an apple, and we went for a walk around downtown Atlanta. The walk was OK, I was knackered and it was hot and we didn’t see that much to be honest, but it had to be done. My stomach started feeling heavier and heavier and it just felt like nothing was digesting and was more likely to come back up than go down, so back to the hotel we went again, with me having another extended rest!
We’d bought tickets in the morning for the Atlanta Falcons vs Tennessee Titans NFL warm-up game so we headed out about 5:30pm to get something to eat for Brian and watch the game. Brian had a burger at the Park Tavern and I had edamame beans before going to the stadium. I decided to have a beer on the premise that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and I managed to keep it down! The game was interesting though the stadium was fairly quiet, it being a pre-season game. The Falcons won in the end though their main QB, Matt Ryan only played for a few minutes at the start. It was an interesting experience, though I think it is a slightly tedious game as it stops so often and takes so long to complete. Americans go crazy for it and it appears Sundays are all about football! On the way back to the hotel we stopped at another rip-off Irish bar (Meehan’s) where we paid $15 for a couple of drinks before going back to the hotel for an early-ish night.
