We left Storms River Mouth Rest Camp about 10am and as we had loads of time for the short trip to Jeffrey’s Bay we decided to take a few detours on the way there. Little did we know these were to we dirt road varying from ok-ish to having huge pot holes! It was quite scenic though and we stopped by Oyster Bay, Cape St Francis, Port St Francis and Cape St Francis before getting to JBay around 1pm.

The Mandyville Hotel was a very pleasant place to stay, and I got a 25% discount booking through Vitality which made it quite a good deal! They even had a little outside space for Brian to smoke! We dumped our stuff and set of for a bit of exploration of the famous (and empty!) beaches and surfing spots. The only place we saw surfers was at Surfer’s Point (check out the dog waiting for its owner on the rocks in one pic) but to be fair, the weather was pretty awful again – cold and windy! On the way back we stopped at Kitchen Windows and booked a table for later the evening. Of course we took the opportunity to have a quick beer, and just as well because we saw an amazing double and full rainbow outside! As we left the restaurant the weather really started to close in and we got a bit wet on the way back to the car!

Dinner at Kitchen Windows was very nice and I had kabeljou and calamari – though somehow the waiter misunderstood me and I had calamari as a starter as well as part of my combo for my main meal! Needless to say, I had to get a doggy bag. Jeffrey’s was a quiet, small town but I’m sure once the weather picks up it will be a very lively town as there are quite a few nice looking bars and hangouts. Not the most exciting of days, but filled with nice scenery despite the weather not really playing along!
